  • Marked on verso in ink "Mary Freeborn 1749". Mary Freeborn, daughter of Gideon and Ruth Freeborn, was born in Portsmouth, R.I. In 1749 she married Stephen Potter of Cranston, R.I., they had nine children between 1750 and 1768. Mary Freeborn Potter died 16 October 1769, according to the "Global, Find A Grave Index for Burials at Sea and other Select Burial Locations, 1300s-Current" indicating she died in Rhode Island. Stephen Potter went on to marry her younger sister Ruth Freeborn (1844- ) in 1770.
