  • This is the earliest sampler in the RIHS collections. Katharine Holden (1717-1807) was born in Warwick, R.I. to Anthony Holden (1693-1720) and Phebe Rhodes ( - ). Katharine married Christopher Lippitt (1712-1764) and had 12 children. She died in 1807 in Cranston, R.I.
