  • Blued steel blade, triangular, heavily chased with gilded figures and designs. Sword and pommel are heavily decorated with ornate, patriotic designs. Also includes a silver chain with a belt clip. Inscribed cantoucge on handle "Congress to Col. Barton" July 25, 1777. Scabbard in cloth coved in silver trim and silver chain and belt loop.

  • Awarded to Col. William Barton on 25 July 1777 by Congress. Supposed to be one of twelve swords made in France. This object was given by the great grandsons of the original owner.
