    Miniature of Benjamin R. Howland wearing a dark coat, white shirt, and dark tie against a sky blue background. He is facing right and has swept up hair. In a gold oval frame with a lock of hair in back, then in dark green case with velvet on inside.

    Research Notes:
    Benjamin R. Howland was only son of John and Mary Howland. He was the publisher of the "Literary Repository" 1814. He died in Nashville, Tenn. in 1827.
