    Portrait of a man in profile on dark green/brown ground. He has curly brown hair and short side burns, prominent nose and ears, slightly receding chin. He wears white riffled shirt, neckband and wing collar, black coat with shawl collar. This is a posthumous image.

    Research Notes:
    James Brown Mason (1775-1819) graduated from Brown University in 1791 and studied medicine. He married Alice Brown in 1799.
