One side has a red border with white and yellow flowers and corn with an image of Roger Williams landing at Whatcheer rock and the words "1636 I having made covenant of peaceable neighborhood with all the Sachems and natives round about us; and having a sense of God's merciful providence unto me in my distress, called the place Providence. Roger Williams". On reverse in black is all advertising for "Warren & Wood The Roger Williams Pitcher made by J. Wedgewood & Sons, Etruria, England. Originated and for sale by Warren & Wood, importers and wholesale & retail dealers in china, crockery, glass, cutlery, silver plated ware, and fancy goods. 287 & 289 Westminster Street, Hoppin Homestead Building, Providence, Rhode Island.
